Simply blown away, great product!!! August 24, 2010 RetroCarlo I was skeptical about the FC Twin. I've read so many mixed reviews about it both here and on other sites but I decided to bite the bullet and pick one up. Firstly, this version of the FC Twin is the latest one, meaning that many of the bugs and compatibility issues other reviewers discuss have been all but eliminated. Case in point, Rolling Thunder by Tengen. One of my fave games but it was on the "Not Compatible" list on the Wikipedia entry. Well they need to update it because it DOES work on the FC Twin, flawlessly. There are a few games on the list I don't own and therefore cannot try but the FC Twin played every NES and SNES game in my collection perfectly. The controllers obviously can't compete with the official controllers but they feel solid and work very well(far better than the Retro Duo controllers). If you're looking to get in retro gaming, want to relive your childhood or like me, want to preserve your original hardware, this system is one of the best you can get.
A great concept August 11, 2010 Jan E. Gerber (hkljglkjhg) This is probably one of the best concepts ever made, combining two great consoles together, who could ask for more? If Nintendo made this product all would be well but instead some third party company made it. This is absolutely the worst video game console ever! With terrible clunky controls and hard to put in gaming cartridge this is a complete hit and miss. I would recommend just buying a nes and snes.
Old School Gone New School August 2, 2010 Dustin Bunnell This system is great! I dusted off a bunch of old Super Nintendo and Nintendo Games I had in my attic and I've been lost in Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Country all weekend long. The system plays both Nintendo and Super Nintendo games with NO problems what so ever. No more blowing in the games, jiggling them around to make them work or anything. It came with 2 controllers, was easy to set up, and arrived very quickly! ;)
Neither one worked properly - AVOID July 12, 2010 S. Hyatt (North Carolina) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I knew I was taking a gamble due to the number of poor reviews, but Amazon has a good return policy, so I took a chance and lost - twice. The first one I received wouldn't play any games. The screen was scrambled on both NES and SNES. I have a functioning NES and games play just fine. I tried multiple cartridges in both and knew the games were not the problem. I had tried to repair my SNES and was told by a service company that scrambling is usually a problem with the power supply. I sent it back and promptly received a new one. Thank you Amazon.
Console #2 played the games, however, the NES was very hard to insert and remove. When I tried it with two controllers, the right port was completely inactive. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed. So much for retro gaming night with my friends! I would suggest trying to find a used one on an auction site or "thatguys list" or spend a little more and go with a refurb from a reputable Nintendo service/supply company that stands behind their products.
Blown Away by the FC Famicon SNES. July 11, 2010 Loriannn Moreno (Arizona,USA.) I was an oldschool fan of the SNES back in the day, and when i recieved this, i was worried about bad sound quality for not paying 80 dollars for the high end style console ports, or the controllers being stiff, for me i played Earthbound just today on it, and all i can say is it went smooth on both sides. Sound quality was smooth, and yes it may not be in high definition sound, but it is definitely the same if not better than SNES/NES quality sound. As for controllers they might feel hollow, but d-pad was not stiff at all. For me i just want to tell people to not listen to skepticism, and that sometimes that even though this might feel like a cheap type of system, it auctully decieves you, because it does the SAME job as an SNES/NES system. I would highly recommend it, for those who have an SNES or NES because it still gets the job done or for those who want to play the classics. It is definitely worth the money.
