Performance of this headset was excellent, durability was not. August 19, 2010 Stuart A. Beggs (Kenvil, NJ USA) I purchased this headset from Amazon.com less than a year ago. This headset performed well, until recently I found that the hinge to the earpiece inexplicably had a stress-mark and had cracked, making it unusable and unwearable. This headset is completely uncomfortable to wear, now. I just received an email saying that the headset was eligible for trade-in, but that is not so, not with the headset in this condition. I find it disappointing that this headset would be so delicate that it couldn't sustain durability under regular use. I'm back to using my previous headset for my gaming, which is not as good at picking up directional sound within games, and also has only one volume setting for all sound, so game sound and comm sound volumes are set using the same control, which poses an increased risk for hearing loss. I generally like the product line from Turtle Beach Headsets. Their prices and performance are difficult for other companies to beat, but the durability is not very desirable, seems to be designed more for planned obsolescence rather than to maintain good utility for customers. Granted, the trade-in offer I received was for only $20.00. I wouldn't recommend anyone wear a previously-used headset, anyway, as headsets/headphones are a major disease vector within modern society.
Finally a good headset July 16, 2010 J. Warner The good:
-Pretty comfortable (compared to some other headphones/headsets out there).
-The game and chat stereo sound quality is great.
-Setup was easy since my TV has a headphone out jack.
The bad:
-There's a (completely bearable) hissing noise not noticable when in game, but fairly prominent when in menus or physically moving about; this is interference in the IR signal and will cut out (along with the game sound) when the headphones are out of the transmitter's line of sight, but as long as your controller has it's signal you can still chat.
-I think I got an older model (bought used) with smaller earcups. A little uncomfortable after extended periods, but not painful like some headphones out there.
-As others have warned, if you are using an HDMI cable and your TV doesn't have a stereo mini output you're going to either have to buy additional components or get creative to be able to use this headset with your Xbox 360... or just pull out that old component cable.
Overall I'm happy with this product and almost hope it dies soon so I have an excuse to buy a newer model :p
Well....it was fun until i opened the box. July 5, 2010 fungusmugus09 Well, i recieved this product about 12 days after i ordered it, which i guess isnt that bad except that i ordered it as an expedient package. Well, when i received my package, i opened it carefully so not to damage it and i was pumped to use it. Yet, when i set everything up, the sound was scratchy and fuzzy which was aggravating. I didnt panic but i did do some research to make sure it wasnt my fault, which it wasnt, but the problem was with them. So if i wanted anything done i would have to wait another week or two and spend double the money for a product that im not sure will even work. So to recap, it took almost two weeks to get my product and i asked for it to be shipped as fast as possible and when i got them they did not work properly. Maybe another turtle beach would be better or maybe a better seller, but for me, this was a waste of time and money. It just sits in a drawer and i try to forget getting screwed over.
I'm in the GAME with these on!!! September 13, 2009 Kevin D. Lemay (Indianapolis, IN.) With these on I can hear every little sound of the game (COD4). 2 things I wish were a little better. 1. Better cord from Headset to the Controller and 2. bigger ear phones. If you are looking to take your game to the next level or just want to be inside the game, you must have these!!!
Best Ever! September 7, 2009 Tina R. Buse (Hawaii, Molokai usa) This product is just an awesome and its is just the best and the batters that it takes lasts like 1 full week or even more and i use it every day but all in all i dont want to repet other people what they say so just buy it and you will be so happy with this.
