2 out of 5 stars Don't buy the OLD playstation 3....................   August 14, 2010
K. Hall (Jacksonville, FL)
While i enjoyed the time that my PS3 was working, once it fails you have to jump through hoops to get it fixed. I witnessed this with 2 of my friends with PS3's, who ultimately had to mail the PS3 to Sony to fix. My 40 gig must have been built on a Tuesday, because I didn't have any problems at first. Once it got a year and a half old, the system stuck in the MIDDLE OF GAMES, and turned itself ON and OFF.

Sony had to know there was a problem with the first PS3, because they came out with the slim pretty quickly by industry standards... My slim works prefectly, and the 'clock' issue did not affect my Slim. BUY THE SLIM IF U BUY A PS3......THIS IS YOUR FIRST INSTINCT TALKING LOL

1 out of 5 stars WTF?   June 23, 2010
Timothy L. Merrill (Camden, New Jersey United States)
I play my Xbox a lot, seriously, I clock in crazy hours on it. So it is no surprise that it has broken three times since i brought it. Each time it has broken Microsoft replaced my Xbox, FOR FREE, they even sent me a box to ship it in. I have been A owner of a Playstation 3 for about 2 and a half years, and i rarely play it. In fact, I probably clocked in more DVD hours than i have game hours. So you can probably understand why i was so upset when it suddenly dropped dead for no particular reason. A red flashing light now plagues my ps3, and it keeps my brand new Modnation Racers hostage in its shiny black dungeon of death. I eventually calmed down because I figured I would just get it fixed. My anger level soon went through the roof again. I found out, that not only was it going to cost me 150 bucks to get it fixed, but i was going to lose all of my data, and my brand new Modnation Racers. I cant shake the feeling that I been ripped offed because i hardly ever played it. I want to replace my Playstation, but i cant do it, and not feel ripped offed, especially for an inferior product.

5 out of 5 stars Sony, You Never Stop Amazing Me!   June 20, 2010
Allison Lofthus (Nampa)
First off, I am not a fanboy of ps3s or 360s. I dont own a 360, but have played one many times. When I first got the my ps3 40gb, not many 1080p games were out yet, and sony did not have many exclusive titles to the ps3. At that point, the xbox 360 probably was a little better, but not any more. Ive had my ps3 for about 2 years, and it still hasnt had 1 random power-off and has never overheated. With titles like lbp, mgs4, and resitance, i think the ps3 is getting better and better. The playstation move is coming out soon too, and that will be a big plus. My ps3 is still a fun machine after 2 years of lots of video games, and tons of movies. Can you say that about your console?

1 out of 5 stars 5 stars haw i must just be unlucky   May 13, 2010

I purchased a ps3 console. it worked well until the warranty was up, then i just bought god of war 111.
the console started to download the game when it stopped and said to call customer service, they said to send the console in for repair for the price of $180.00 with shipping.the console worked fine before i tryed GOW111 now it wont play any of my old games ether.
so their own software caused the problem. but i must pay for their junk wrecking my console. This isn't the first time I've had a bogus Sony product, but the other time it happened I wrote it off as...sometimes a company that mass-produces products will have some come off the assembly line as bunk. I was forgiving and gave them more of my money....but the buck stops here. I will NEVER give them another cent of my money again and I strongly encourage you to not buy Sony products.

1 out of 5 stars disapointed in many ways   March 19, 2010

I have a hard time recamending this system. First off I,ve only brought about 5 games for my ps3 2 of witch I never played. between the other 3 Hevenly sword, folklore, and valkyria I dought I have 100 gaming hours on my disc drive. and its already failed. It no longer spins. I have only watched 2 blue rays and 1 dvd (twice). Thats not acceptable. thus the 1 star

I barrly used it since I,m always on my xbox core system. first gen. release, and yes 30 plus games latter 100+ hours just on soul calibur its still woking fine.

Things i didn't like about my ps3 b4 it broke.

6 axis control

playstaion network and store. (adopted xbox first and even tho free psn cant even be compaierd to the quallity of xbox live) xbox live is definatly the better choice for social gaming.

few exlusive titles of intrest. I brought mine for FF13 and blue-ray and ended up bying FF13 for xbox after sony lost the excusive

The trophies. copies of achivments on xbox aren't as easy to view and didn't catch my intrest.

Things i did like.

The playstaion controller has a better d pad.

The blue ray was able to play a dvd that skipped on all my dvd players the day it came out of box ( the burn looked wavy think it was skipping during burn).

Exlusive games like hevenly sword almost made it worth bying.

The blue-ray ps3 at the time was cheaper then blue-ray players. but alass that is the part that failed in 100 hours.

In all its not a bad system its getting to point were its got the games. but the 40 and 60 gig modles have hardware problems. If you havn't injoyed xbox live you wount know what your missing on psn, but if you get a ps3 get the new slim or 80 gig. they seem to not have the blue-ray lazer and moter fail problems.
